EURO 2020: Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo wins Golden Boot

With 5 goals to his name, Cristiano Ronaldo won the Golden Boot award for the top goal-scorer at the 2021 European Championships (EURO 2020) on Sunday.

As EURO 2020 came to a close on Sunday, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo claimed his first European Championship Golden Boot, with Italy emerging victorious.

Ronaldo had scored in each of Portugal’s group stage games, including a brace against Hungary and a goal against France. He had, however, failed to score in the round of 16 against Belgium, losing 0-1 to them.

With four goals, England captain Harry Kane had a chance to pass Ronaldo ahead of the final against Italy. In the end, it was the latter who received the prize.

With his 14th goal of the tournament, Ronaldo also became the leading goal scorer in Euros history. Meanwhile, he had tied Iran forward Ali Daei for the most goals scored in international football with 109.
